The Annapurna Base Camp Trek brings us to the Annapurna "sanctuary". The south face of Annapurna I and the ridge of Annapurna South towards Machhapuchhre forming a secluded mountain basin, which also contains the base camp. The Annapurna I (8'091 m) is the tenth highest mountain in the world. He is one of the few unclimbed and dangerous mountains in the Himalaya's.

The name Annapurna is composed of anna (food) and Purna together (filled); Annapurna is the food-giving God or God of Prosperity.

The highlights of this trekking are the magnificent view from Poon Hill 3’210 m as well as the rich culture and diversity of ethnic groups. You will have a choice of routes with different duration.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
Enjoy the historical cultural sites of Kathmandu including UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pashupatinath (sacred Hindu temples), Boudhanath (Buddhist shrine) Swayembhunath (monkey temple), etc.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara - 7 hours drive by bus

Day 04: 1.5 hour drive to Nayapul by private Car / Van - Trek to Ulleri 1'960 m
We start our hike in Nayapul. After 15 minutes along on the bank of the Modi Khola River, the way brings us to Birethanti 1'025 m, a large village with shops and tea houses. From there, the trail continues through the village and follows the northern shore of Bhurungdi Khola. Then we climb steadily uphill to Hille 1‘475 m here comes now the challenging part of the day, the ascent to Ulleri.

Day 05: Ulleri - Ghorepani 2'874 m
After a rich breakfast we leave Ulleri and begin our climb to Ghorepani. The trail leads through oak and rhododendron forests to Banthanti 2‘250 m. From there we walk towards Nangethanti on 2'460 m. After another hour we reach Ghorepani 2'874 m. Option: those who want to enjoy the sunset on the Poon Hill 3'210 m.

Day 06: Ghorepani – Poon Hill – Tadapani 2'590 m
Still in the dark, and those who did not oversleep, make the one-hour climb to Poon Hill 3'210 m. A great spectacle. This vantage point offers a wonderful view of the sunrise over the Himalayas. We spend about 40 minutes and enjoy the wonderful experience before we get back down to Ghorepani and relish our well-deserved breakfast. This part is known as the 'Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek' and is a very popular place in this region. Afterwards the path leads us over hills and through pine- and rhododendron forests before arriving in Banthanti. From here we take the turnoff to Tadapani 2’590 m.

Day 07: Tadapani - Chhomrong 2'100 m
Today we will hike through the village Gurjung - home of the 'Gurung'. From here, it goes slowly on to Chomrong 2'100 m, the beginning of the Sacred Valley 'Sanctuary Valley'.

Day 08: Chhomrong – Dovan 2'505 m
The path leads us first again downhill to the Chhomrung Khola before it rises again until we reach Khuldighar and have a clear view of the Fishtail (Machhapuchhre). From here we continue to Bamboo (named after its bamboo forest), after a while we arrive in Dovan 2’505 m.

Day 09: Dovan – Deurali 3'230 m
First we walk through bamboo- and rhododendron forests, to Himalaya and up to Hinku Cave at 3’020 m. We stay overnight in Deurali to acclimate for the final ascent to Annapurna base camp.

Day 10: Deurali – MBC (Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Base Camp) 3'720 m
This morning takes us through the beautiful 'Hidden Valley', in the past it was used as the Base Camp of Machhapuchhre. Nowadays, it is forbidden to climb Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

The name of the Annapurna Sanctuary 'The Hidden Valley' became because it is surrounded from all sides by mountains.                       

Day 11: MBC (Machhapuchhre Base Camp) – ABC (Annapurna Base Camp) back to Bamboo
Still in the dark, we make our way up to Annapurna base camp 4'130 m to enjoy the sunrise there. After breakfast we walk back to the MBC and afterwards to Bamboo.

Day 12: Bamboo – Jhinu Danda 1'78 m
Enjoy the natural hot springs at the foot of the river.

Day 13: Jhinu Danda - Dhampush 1'650 m

Day 14: Dhampush to Pokhara 0.5 hours drive

Day 15: Pokhara to Kathmandu

Day 16: Departure
