The Api Himal Trek is located in an isolated western region of Nepal. On this trek you are able to see the magnificent Himalayan panorama as the Api Himal, Kappa Chuli Peak, Nandadevi, Rajramba and many others. You will pass the sacred lake Kalidhunga, meet nomads such as the 'Raute'. The local people are both Hindus and Buddhists still follow their ancient cultures, traditions and lifestyle. Have insight view into the diverse nature and culture of this region. Step into a pristine part of Nepal.

The region has a limited entry and thus required a special permit.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing

Day 03: Flight to Dhangadi and drive to Gokuleshwar

Day 04: Gokuleshwar – Karkale 950 m

Day 05: Karkale – Chiureni 1‘100 m

Day 06: Chiureni – Makarighat 1‘800 m

Day 07: Makarighat – Seti 3‘000 m

Day 08: Seti – Bayaligad 3‘400 m

Day 09: Bayaligad – Simar 3‘600 m

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
Enjoy a guided tour of the famous historical and cultural attractions Kathmandu's, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Pashupatinath (holy Hindu Temple), Boudhanath (Buddhist Shrine) Swayembhunath (Monkey temple) etc. In the evening we meet our tour guide to prepare our trek.

Day 03: Flight to Dhangadi and drive to Gokuleshwar
On our flight to Dhangadi we already have the first highlights; we have a view of Manaslu, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. In Dhangadi we take the bus and walk the narrow road to Gokuleshwar, where we spend the night.

Day 04: Gokuleshwar – Karkale 950 m
We walk around 2 hours and arriving already in Karkale. The area is picturesque; we can enjoy the great mountain view and beautiful landscapes.

Day 05: Karkale – Chiureni 1‘100 m
From Karkale, we walk through stunning villages, agricultural areas and cross several suspension bridges. After about 6 ½ hours we reach Chiureni. In Nepali Chiureni means "butter tree", this region has received the name because the area is full of butter trees.

Day 06: Chiureni – Makarighat 1‘800 m
Today we follow the Chamliya Khola. The path is pretty straight and narrow in a few places. After about 7 hours we reach our camp.

Day 07: Makarighat – Seti 3‘000 m
A climb of approximately 1‘200 meters awaits us today. We walk through some villages and having nice mountain view.

Day 08: Seti – Bayaligad 3‘400 m
It goes up and down, after about 2 hours we reach Lawathi. It is the last village on this trek. Many years ago, the time before the first Trekker stopped here; it also had the name Saheb Bagar. From here we continue up through dense jungle and after 5 hours we arrive in Bayaligad.

Day 09: Bayaligad – Simar 3‘600 m
Today we continue our hike up through dense jungle. In summer we have the opportunity to see the plant Yarsagumba. It is a combination of a caterpillar and a fungus. This caterpillar fungus plays especially in Chinese medicine an important role and is a highly sought medicinal mushroom. 5 hours later we reach our camp.

Day 10: Simar – Dhawaliwadar 3‘800 m
The path is again fairly straight. We pass caves, which are used by nomads as a store. Again we have the opportunity to take a look at the mountains.

Day 11: Dhawaliwadar - Api Base Camp 4‘000 m
About 2 hours after we left Dhawaliwadar, we reach the Api Himal Base Camp. After lunch we walk to the Holy Lake and are able to enjoy the beautiful mountain view.

Day 12: Api Base Camp – Saheb Bagar 2‘800 m
After we have strengthened us with a good breakfast, we make our way downward. After about 6 hours we reach Saheb Bagar.

Day 13: Saheb Bagar – Makarighat 1‘800 m
A 6 ½ hour hike takes us to Makarighat.

Day 14: Makarighat – Bitulechaur 1‘200 m
We walk the same path back to where we came from.

Day 15: Bitule – Gokuleshwor 850 m
From the stunning village Bitule we walk a good 6 hours.

Day 16: Gokuleshwor – Dhangadi (14 h by bus)
A long bus ride is ahead of us. After 14 hours we reach Dhangadi.

Day 17: Flight to Kathmandu
