The Sherpa Village Trek leads us through the Solokhumbu, the heart and home of the Sherpa. The name "Sherpa" (East-man) stands for the people who settled east of the Bhote Kosi River. Another highlight of this Trek is the Edmund Hillary School, the Khumjung Monastery where we are able to gaze the head of the legendary Yeti and the monastery in Thame.

Around 300 – 400 years ago the Sherpa migrated from eastern Tibet to Nepal. Until the 1920s the Sherpa didn't climb mountains, they believed the high peaks of the Himalaya are the homes of the gods. The Sherpa eked their livelihood from high-altitude farming, cattle rising, and wool spinning and weaving.

This Trek gives you the opportunity to have a quick insight view into the world of the giants.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Transfer to Hotel

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Enjoy the historical cultural sites of Kathmandu including UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pashupatinath (sacred Hindu temples), Boudhanath (Buddhist shrine) Swayembhunath (monkey temple), etc.

Day 03: Flight to Lukla – Trek to Phakding 2‘610 m
The short flight to Lukla is impressive. We fly parallel to the Himalayas. The trek starts with a descent on a wide trail through the Dudh Kosi valley. Afterwards we walk through beautiful pine- and rhododendron forests until we arrive in Phakding.

Day 04: Phakding – Namche Bazar 3‘440 m
From Phakding we climb up the valley and meet among others Sherpa's with their "Zopkio‘s" half Yak half cow transporting equipment for expeditions to their camp. We follow the Dudh Kosi River upstream and can sneak a peek at Kusum Kangru 6'369 m and Thamserku 6‘608 m, finally we enter the Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park.

For the first time we get the opportunity to have a glimpse of Mount Everest 8'848 m, Lhotse 8'511 m, Nuptse 7‘879 m, Amadablam 6'856 m and Taweche 6‘542 m. We reach Namche Bazar. Stroll through Namche, which seems to be a huge bazar. Enjoy the Mountain view and the Sherpa culture or visit the Sherpa museum.

Day 05: Namche - Thamo 3'493 m
The path is pleasant; we hike through forests and small villages. We can still see traces of the historical and traditional trade route, countless trade caravans as well as Tibetan refugees made their way here. We have time to explore Thamo and visiting the Monastery.

Day 06: Thamo - Thame 3'820 m
The road rises slowly and is easy to walk. The landscape is changing, we reach the tree line, the vegetation becomes sparse, and rocks dominate the landscape. We hear the sound of a river and come to a suspension bridge that leads above an impressive gorge. We arrive at the home of the Sherpa’s who since years accompany the adventurers to climb Mount Everest.

Day 07: Explore the village
Enjoy the magnificent panoramic Mountain view and visit the monastery.

Day 08: Thame - Khunde 3'840 m
We leave Thame. It goes uphill and downhill. We walk through forests, which in spring has pink, purple and red rhododendron blossoms, even primroses bloom along the way. On the way we are able to see a few Musk Deer and Mountain Goats. After 6 hours we reach a slope. The road is narrow; it seems as if bruised in the mountain wall. Finally, we work our way slowly to the end of the path before the passage to the next mountain comes, it is marked by a rushing waterfall. Snow and ice nestle tightly to the steep slopes.

And suddenly we are on the top! Down the valley a barren, open countryside. A waterfall splashes icy to himself. In the distance we are able to see our Lodge.

Day 09: Khunde – Phakding 2'610 m
The day starts with a visit to the Hillary Hospital and the Hillary School before we make our way to Khumjung Monastery where we are able to gaze the Yeti head. On the way back to Phakding we walk via Sanasa.
