Patan The former royal city of Patan (Lalitpur earlier: the "Beautiful City").
Compared to Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, Patan is a primary a Buddhist city. This can be seen in the more than 150 former monasteries and by their founding legend. Patan said to have been founded by the Buddhist emperor Ashoka. The main attraction is the Durbar Square, with its countless temples.

Adinath Lokeshwar Temple
The temple is sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists and is located Chowar, around 6 km outside of Kathmandu and Patan. The temple, dedicated to the red Machhendranath, was originally built in the 15th century, and then rebuilt in 1640. Some believe if they fix a metal utensil to its walls will ensure a happy marriage. There are also various legends connected to the deity.
