Mohare & Khopra Danda Trek itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu
Day 2 Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara
Early morning drive by tourist bus. It takes us about 7 to 8 hours to reach Pokhara.
Day 3 Drive from Pokhara to Galeshwor 1170 m and Trek to Banskharka
We drive around 3 hours from Pokhara to Galeshwor, if we are early we can visit the Galeshwor Temple. We hike to Banskharka on the Annapurna trail. Banskharka has lived for years on the production of mandarins, oranges and honey.
Day 4 Banskharka to Nangi 2320 m
We hike through Rhodendron forests to the mountain village Danda Kateri and enjoying the fantastic view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Depending on which way we choose we can see different birds, butterflies and if we are lucky even deer. Nangi has its own herbal farm for the production of traditional medicine. The place is also known for homemade paper produced by native plants.
Day 5 Nangi to Mohare Danda 3300 m
Early morning, the view of the surrounding mountains is the clearest, so it is worth to get up early. The view of the Dhaulagiri mountain range at sunrise is fantastic. After breakfast, a strenuous section follows 1’100 m heights up, over plains, through rhododendron forests and passing mossy trees. As there is no possibility to go to a teahouse on the way, we have packed lunch today. The goal is the Mohare Hill at 3’300 meters altitude. Upon reaching the summit of the Mohare Hills, we are rewarded with an impressive view of the surrounding mountain peaks of the Annapurna range.
Day 6 Mohare Danda to Swanta 2214 m
We make our way towards Swanta village located at base of Annapurna south Himalaya and hiking now clockwise the Khopra Danda Trek
Day 7 Swanta to Chistibang 3026 m
Today it goes steep up. We are accompanied by great views of the Dhaulagiri. The Gusthouse will provide tents if it is fully booked.
Day 8-9 Chistibang to Khopra Danda 3660 m
We start with a steady climb almost to the tree line. Around noon we will be at the lodge and have so enough time to enjoy the extraordinary panorama. Terrific views to the nearby Annapurna South, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri Himal as well as Tukuche Peak.
On rest day We make a trip to Khayar lake at 4’550 meters. The lake is famous in the Hindu faith. Similar to the Gosainkunda lake many Hindu pilgrims on the occasion of Janai Purnima festival visit in July/August the Khayar Lake. We enjoy the gorgeous views around the lake.
Day 10 Khopra Danda to Bayeli or Baisi Khara (Dobato) 3426 m
The Trekking route is rough and narrow and taking us deep in a rhododendron forest. Further down we crossing the river on a wooden bridge and climbing up to Bayeli. If we are lucky we are able to have a glimpse on wild animals. The trail goes up and down and finally we arrive in Dobato / Baisi Kharka. We have amazing Mountain View. It is worth to make a 45 min hike to see the sunset from the Muldai view point from where we can see more than 26 mountains such as Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, Nilgiri, Lamjung Himal range etc. When it is clear we even can see until to the Pokhara valley and the beautiful Phewa lake.
Day 11 Dobato to Ghandruk 1940 m
For the one who missed the sunset view at Muldai hill view point has the chance to enjoy the sunrise.
We walking down to Tadapani from where we can see Annapurna South, Himchuli, Fishtail, Gangapurna, Mardi Himal etc. After awhile we arrive in Ghandruk a scenic Gurung Village. We have great view to mountains like Annapurna South, Fishtail, Himchuli, and Gangapurna etc.
Day 12 Ghandruk to Dhampus and drive to Pokhara 820 m
We end our trek with a relaxed hike to Dhampus, from where we drive until Pokhara.
Day 13 Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu
Early morning we take tourist bus to Kathmandu. If you have more days to spend in Nepal there is many activities to enjoy and explore around lakeside and Pokhara city.
Day 14 Departure
Our staff will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the airport. Have a safe journey and hope to see you again.
