About Trip

The trip to the glacial lake Tilicho Lake at almost 5’000 m on the Annapurna Circuit is one of the finest classical Himalayan trekking. The highest point of the hike is the Thorung La pass with its 5'416 meters above sea level.

In the north of the Himalayas lies the dry highland of Tibet. After several days of walking to Jomsom, we reach Muktinath. It is a pilgrimage centre for Buddhists and Hindus. We meet Tibetan traders as well as Sadhus coming from far south of India. There is a sanctuary in a grove of trees including a Buddhist Gompa and the Vishnu Temple of Jwalamai. In the nearby ancient temple the famous eternal flame rises, which has a high religious significance for Muktinath.
