About Trip

The Muktinath Jomsom Trek is a classic Trek and the last third of the Annapurna Circuit. We follow the Kali Gandaki valley between the towering peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Along the banks of Kali Gandaki River there are rocks which are holy to the Hindus.

In the north of the Himalayas lies the dry highlands of Tibet. After several days of walking to Jomsom, we reach our final destination, Muktinath. It is a pilgrimage centre for Buddhists and Hindus. We meet Tibetan traders as well as sadhus coming from far south of India. There is a sanctuary in a grove of trees including a Buddhist Gompa and the Vishnu Temple of Jwalamai. In the nearby ancient temple the famous eternal flamMae rises, which has a high religious significance for Muktinath.
