  • Amazing 9-day Kopra Danda Trek in January

    evalottchen, United Kingdom

We got to know Dilli and Susann through a friend's recommendation and decided to go on a 9-day trek in the Anapurna region with Happy Himalayan Treks.Dilli and Susann were great from the first contact via email. They helped us design the right itinerary and answered all of our questions about process, gear and other details. When we arrived in Kathmandu they welcomed us in their home like friends. We had a short but lovely time getting ready for the trek and getting to know the family over chats and food around the fire on their terrace. We went on the trek with our guide Raj, who was super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, patient and flexible. He even re-designed the last few days of our route so we could visit some amazing hot springs to get a relaxing soak at the end of our trek. We always felt safe and comfortable with Raj. We shared lots of interesting conversations over dal baht and a glass of local wine. The trek itself of amazing. We had beautifully sunny weather most of the times with great views of the Anapurna and Daulaghiri ranges. We started our on the more popular Ghorepani/Poon Hill route (enjoying both sunset and sunrise on Poon Hill) and then moved on to a lesser trodden path up to Kopra Danda. At this time of year, it felt like we had the hills to ourselves, trekking in peace and quiet, enjoying the marvelous views and nature around us. The climb up to Kopra was strenuous, but we took it nice and slow and it was absolutely worth the views. We only had a short two week visit to Nepal this time, but we will definitely be back for more and longer trekking... and to see our new found friends again. Thank you, Dilli, Susann and Raj for making this trip so wonderful.

  • Best honeymoon we could imagine

My wife and I did an Everest basecamp and three-pass trek with Happy Himalayan for our honeymoon. The trek was absolutely fantastic, Susann was very friendly and helpful, and Dilli is a great man. What we really can't say enough about is how fantastic our guide Deepak and porter Sungin were. These two became some of our favorite human beings we've ever met. They are wonderful people and it was an absolute joy to spend 17 showerless days walking through the mountains with them. Thanks for teaching us so many card games Deepak, and thanks Sungin for teaching us how to lose gracefully. We can't wait fro the day we get to return. If you're up for a challenge and aren't afraid of altitude, ask for Everest Base Camp PLUS Cho la, and Rengo la. And if you're crazy enough Kongma la. Those passes were a highlight for us.

  • Warm, welcoming and safe trekking

I visited in Feb 2015. I got to know Dilli from Airbnb and I stayed the first night in his home before the start of my trek. Both him and Susann and the family were very welcoming and friendly and all the meals were home cooked and delicious. My guide Raj was also staying there for the night so that we could set off early next morning. I went for the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. My guide Raj took good care of me, helped me with my backpack when I got tired and took care of my food, drinking and lodging needs. Knowing that the return trip would be slippery due to snow, and I was not in the condition to proceed, he recommended to take the same route back for safety reasons. He was also very accommodating to slight changes to the plans due to my personal wish to hurry back to Kathmandu for some festival celebrations. All in all, I had a great trip with them!

  • Awsome Trekking

We got to know Susann and Dilli from Happy Himalayan Treks last year through AirBnB. We did not want to book a trekkingtour in advance because there are so many trekking companies and we where quite overwelmed with information found online. So we were very happy to find out that Dilli and Susann oparate a trekking company in Kathmandu. Dilli is very experienced when it comes to al kinds of trekkings in Nepal. He started years back as a porter and has been working as Trekking Guide for many years now. Even though we are from Switzerland and used to hiking we where not sure beforehand if we could handle the hight and the different conditions. With Dilli's advise we decided to do the trekking to the Anna Purna Basecamp and where so happy that we did so. Dilli did this route many times before and knows all the good places and guesthouses to stay on the trek. If you just want to do a short trek I recomend the see at least Poon Hill, which was part of our tour. But honestly if your are in good condition (able to walk five hours a day for several days) you should defently try the Anna-Purna Basecamp. The scenery was just stunning. We reached the camp at 5 am just at the right time to see a beautiful sunrise. Communication with Susann and Dilli was very easy and straight forward and we would be happy to come back at some time.

  • Amazing trip to the Everest Region

What a fantastic trip this turned out to be! Dilli and Susann were fantastic hosts. We stayed at their wonderful home, and got to know their family. They showed us around Kathmandu, and then Dilli guided us to the Everest Region (Goyko lakes, Cho La Pass, Kala Pattar, and mountaineering climb of Lobuche Peak). Dilli and the porters were fantastic, and we became a family by the end - playing cards every night and joking endlessly with each other. Unlike other tours we really got to know our guide and porters and this made for a really unique adventure. Can't recommend them enough - I now consider them friends and would recommend them to anyone!
